March 2010 – Loaves with very personal shapes

Winner of the Louis Lesaffre Cup in 2007, and silver medallist at the Bakery World Cup in 2008, Pao-Chun WU excelled in the 2010 Master Bakers competition. Currently working in a bakery in Taiwan, he plans to open his own bakery when he gets home and pass on his know-how to the local inhabitants.

 

 

"France is a lovely country. Competing and winning this competition was a dream come true for me! I have been preparing for this competition for 2 years. It was very difficult, but this time I surpassed myself to win," explains Pao-Chun.

During the competition, he produced loaves with very personal shapes and a multitude of flavours that he spent a great deal of time devising. It was that blend of flavours and shapes that won over the public and members of the jury.

"During the competition, the hardest thing was the isolation as I didn't speak the language: I couldn't share my feelings with the other candidates. Luckily, the members of the Taipei Representative Office in France gave me active and enthusiastic support over the 5 days and I saw the pride in their eyes when the results were announced: a very fine gift…"
